Key Stage 3

Welcome to Middle Classes!

Welcome

Welcome to Middle School. The information here is intended to give you an oversight of the provision for students in Years 6 to 8 during their time at Stubbin Wood.

It is our aim to make sure that your son or daughter will enjoy their time with us - having fun, growing in self-confidence and belief, developing friendships but also working hard.

Within Middle School pupils have access to either a pre-formal, semi-formal or formal curriculum as appropriate to their needs. They also as appropriate to their needs have the opportunity to engage in Rebound, Forest Schools, Physical Literacy and Hydrotherapy sessions to name but some of the fantastic learning opportunities we offer. Ultimately we offer individualised learning programmes in order to make sure every pupils needs are met

Our Middle School curriculum has been designed with a focus around making learning as fun and as engaging as possible. We have recently created a new 3 year cross-curricular topic based rolling programme which incorporates all that we need to teach, whilst providing lots of opportunities for learning beyond the classroom environment – including the development of self-help skills and the ability to function happily in the community around them through the access to school trips and residentials.

Chesterfield Museum. The children enjoyed a history and art learning experience. We explored common objects from the olden days and compared them with those of today.

Middle school went out into our sensory garden to make clay or mud faces on the trees. The students worked really hard and put in lots of effort using their imaginations to create beautiful art. We are very proud of them.

Middle school did some wonderful art in the style of Guiseppe Arcimboldo. The students enjoyed sticking vegetables and making faces.
