Careers & Progression

Welcome to our Careers and Progression Resource Centre

This webpage outlines our careers programme.  We encourage students, parents, teachers and employers to engage in this programme and welcome enquiries if further information is required.  Preparing young people for a fulfilling and rewarding life after finishing full-time education is at the heart of everything we do.  Whilst our students are at Stubbin Wood School, we provide them with a range of activities and opportunities including:

  • Finding out about technical education qualifications and apprenticeship opportunities through our careers programme.  The programme provides information on the full range of education and training options available at each transition point.
  • Hearing from a range of local providers about the opportunities they offer, including technical education and apprenticeships – through option events, assemblies and group discussions and taster events.
  • Understanding how to make applications for the full range of academic and technical courses.

During this global health crisis, we know that careers advice and guidance has never been so important.  Our Careers Team are on hand to help you to help your child make informed choices to help them to make a confident step forward when they leave in the Summer of 2021.

Management of Provider Access Requests

To ensure our students receive impartial careers advice and guidance to help to inform their decisions, we welcome education providers into the School and will seek to provide an appropriate, timely opportunity for them to meet with our students. Their 'offer' should be appropriate to the needs of our students.  During the current Covid-19 health pandemic, we will seek to provide 'virtual' support.  Any face-to-face opportunities will be in line with Government guidance and any local restrictions in place at the time.

Premises and facilities: Providers who support the Careers Education Curriculum on school premises will have the use of the dining area, class rooms and meeting rooms, where possible, including the use of IT equipment. Use of facilities will be discussed and agreed in advance of the visit with the Careers Leader. Providers are welcome to leave marketing materials and other information sources, at the school, where it will be made available to students and parents.

A provider wishing to request access should contact Miss Kirkwood, Careers and Enterprise Coordinator by calling 01623 742795 or by e-mailing
