Welcome

Message from the Head Teacher
I feel very privileged to be the Headteacher of Stubbin Wood School & Nursery, a school where you can be confident your child will be safe, happy, and have their individual needs met through our specialist teaching and interventions.
Our values are reflected in our mission statement: 'Creating opportunities for everyone to achieve success and reach their potential. Inclusion is the centre of our ethos and day to day working practices as "Creating opportunities for everyone to achieve success" cannot be achieved without it. It is therefore part of the role of every member of staff.

Mental Health

There are so many websites available that sometimes, it's difficult to know where to go for help first.  The messages are often the same; mental health begins with putting yourself first and taking time to relax, exercise, eat well and finding the positives in life.  We hope the following will help you, and your family, if you need it.

The Mental Health Foundation

The Foundation believe that forming a family and parenting is an important part of life, with many changes taking place. Both mothers' and fathers' mental health may be affected during this transition, which may influence their child's mental health.  They work on a variety of innovative projects with children and young people.  The website has a range of content designed to give you more information about mental health and to help you to look after your mental health.  The site includes podcasts, videos, inspiring stories and information about getting help if you're struggling.

CAMHS Resources

This website was created for young people, carers and professionals to pool together lots of helpful resources from across the internet that are available to help support your mental health and well-being. Whilst this is not an official NHS site, it has been constructed by a CAMHS professional to offer help.

Young Minds

Young Minds are leading the fight for a future where all young minds are supported and empowered, whatever the challenges.  Their website has lots of help and guidance for parents (including a telephone helpline) and young people.  They are here to make sure they get the best possible mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life’s difficulties.

The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families is a children’s mental health charity with over 60 years’ experience of caring for young people and their families. Their vision is a world in which children and their families are effectively supported to build on their own strengths to achieve their goals in life.
